Buick Regal 2.4L SIDI model launched
Buick have launched a new generation of engine with the Buick Regal – this time the Regal will be sporting a 2.4L direct injection model that will be able to improve power and lower consumption at the same time. Pricing for the new 2.4L model ranges from 221,900rmb to 274,900rmb depending on specification and the addition of OnStar support.
Power of the 2.4 SIDI model is 137kW/6200rpm and has max torque of 240Nm/4800rpm, power has been increased 9.6% over the last model and torque has increased 6.7% making the car 3% faster on the 0-100kph run (although official times have not yet been announced), fuel economy has been improved by 2.2% whilst emissions are down an amazing 25%.

Why on earth do they still use these totally outdated engine? Why not the 1.6l Turbo, as the European Version (called “Opel Insignia” here) has?
The 1.6T is available…. but as a manual only, also a 2.0T is available with man/trans.
The 1.6T doesn’t have as much power as this engine, IIRC. The 2.4L is a good option for those who want more power than the standard 2.0L (non-turbo), but don’t want to pony up for the 2.0T.
