Chevrolet Cruze hatch spotted in China
The Chevrolet Cruze has been one of GM’s great gains in the Chinese market, in 2010 188,000 units alone were cleared from Chevrolet dealerships across China – that works out an impresive 515 Cruze’s sold per day for GM. To improve on 2010′s sales statistics, Shanghai-GM are readying the Chevrolet Cruze hatchback variant into China, it was originally unveiled at the Paris Auto Show last year and has since been spotted out testing in China, and also it has been seen in the Chinese patent office when Shanghai-GM registered it several months ago.
The Cruze hatch is expected to have the same power plants as its sedan brother, so that will be the choice of either a 1.6L or a 1.8L naturally aspirated engine line and also the flagship 1.6T, although the turbo version is only available as a manual only option leaving the slush box choices to its stable mate, the Buick Excelle GT range.
Pricing is currently unknown, but is expected to be around the same price as the current sedan, an April launch at the Shanghai Auto Show is more than likely for this model, especially as the show is being held in Shanghai-GM’s own backyard.
