Guangzhou Auto’s Trumpchi SUV spotted out

We first saw the Guangzhou Auto SUV concept at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2010, at the time it was known as the X-Power SUV, although this might change for the production model. Power for the SUV is expected to come from GAC’s own 2.0L engine which was formerly found in the Alfa Romeo 166 sedan, interestingly GAC are working on their own 1.8T engine for this SUV. Five speed manual and automatics are being prepared also. Frpm what we have learned, the Trumpchi SUV is likely to be based off either the second generation short wheel base Mitsubishi Pajero platform, or the Changfeng CS7 platform which is also likely to be highly similar to the Mitsubishi platform due to Mitsubishi’s cooperation with Changfeng prior to Guangzhou Auto’s take over of Changfang.

Now that the Trumpchi sedan is out, the Trumpchi SUV is likely to take center stage at this years Shanghai Auto Show, and will be up against other self developed SUV’s such as the Roewe SUV.
