Skoda first entered China in 2007 under VAG ownership, prior to that the last generation of Skoda’s were mostly used as taxi’s in Beijing and rumor has it that the first of those came via China’s friend and partner: North Korea.
Skoda’s 2010 sales went over 200,000 units giving it a 62% sales boost over 2009 and sevenfold increase over its debut year in 2007. Since its introduction as a locally built brand, Skoda has been able to deliver over 410,000 cars in the past three and a half years.
Skoda is of course now built by Shanghai-VW and first came with the Octavia in 2007, later it introduced the Fabia and then Superb, the Octavia has been a big hit in China with sales regularly surpassing 10,000 units, to expand the line up Skoda has introduce the greenline and sports model – the VRS to China.
