BAIC’s B40 spotted out naked again, to launch soon
BAIC seemed to have learned quite a bit from ex-partner Chrysler about Jeep production, BAIC’s B40 looks rather like a Jeep Wrangler although it doesn’t have the same power plants as the Wrangler, the B40 could be considered the thinking mans Wrangler due to the similarities between the two vehicles.
Engine power for the B40 is rumored to be a 2.4L Mitsubishi engine which is good enough for around town but will lack some serious muscle when it comes to hitting the hard stuff, although a diesel engined model is supposed to be in development. Let’s not forget the BAIC also has access to 2.0T engines courtesy of Saab, so perhaps a 2.0T B40 is in the pipeline somewhere.
The B40 measures in at (LxWxH) 4200 x 1800 x 1750mm and has a wheelbase of 2400mm, as expected the car only has four seats and two doors, there is no word yet if BAIC plan to give it the Rubicon treatment and set up a five door version.

While not quite there yet, this picture should show Jeep that modernizing is not a bad thing. The wrangler looks good but it does not need round lights and protruding back lights!
