BYD S6DM to launch in the US in 2012

There is no denying that America has a love affair with the SUV, after all it was their creation and they have taken it to new heights with full size SUV’s and to lower heights once again with crossovers. America went into the Prius love affair with gusto, the Prius became a Hollywood sweet heart almost over night and now it became chic to be green and hip to hate the SUV, now what if America was to get both?

The BYD S6DM SUV was on show at the Detroit Auto Show and is expected to launch in the US market in the first half of 2012 according to media reports.

BYD have not yet revealed the power plant under the S6DM, it is expected to be a similar setup to the F3DM but with a slightly larger displacement naturally aspirated gasoline engine to assist in pulling the S6′s bulk when not using the electric motors.
