2.0T BMW X1 sighted in China
The market for luxury crossovers is heating up in China, the market was first tested by the imported Audi Q5 although that was later produced in China and has sold extremely well so far, (with dealers adding an extra 50,000rmb to allow consumers to pick up their vehicles first). Mercedes introduced the GLK and BMW introduced the X1, now BMW are going to be chasing after Audi Q5 sales with the imminent launch of the BMW X1 in a four cylinder 2.0T guise.
BMW have been working with their Chinese partner, Brilliance, for several years in Shenyang. Their partnership has so far seen the production of the 3 and 5 series sedans, the X1 will be their first SUV project. Brilliance and BMW are expected to produce the BMW 1-series in China to also bring the fight to the Audi A3.
