MG3 to launch in mid March, priced from 70,000rmb and rising
The MG3 was first unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show in December 2010 to an impressed crowd, the MG3 is the first small MG in quite a few years and appears to be setting its sights on the joint venture made cars such as the Ford Fiesta and Honda Fit in terms of its pricing.
The MG3 will launch with a 1.5L engine borrowed from the Roewe 350 but a small displacement engine is expected to launch in mid to late 2011. The 1.5L engine is no slouch and will be able to power the small car upto 180kph per hour, and will be available in AMT and 5 speed manual mode. A crossover model is also in development and that should be ready for the market towards the end of the year.

will there ba a diesel option?
Diesel cars are rare in China, small diesel cars are non existent. I’m sure SAIC will see the importance of a small displacement diesel for the Euro markets.
