Chevrolet Volt to launch in China this year

The market for hybrids in China is currently in its early stages, the numbers for hybrid sales in China in 2010 were in the low 1000′s but in the USA its a different story where the Nissan Leaf and also Chevrolet Volt appear to be picking up strong initial sales.

GM are planning to launch the Volt in China in 2011 according to Chinese media reports from earlier today, the Volt has already been shown off at several auto shows within China during 2010.

The Volt is expected to be imported into China to begin with but Chinese production could begin once a demand for the car is established in the Chinese market. Pricing is not expected to be low when it is launched on Chinese soil, prices could be as high as 400,000rmb according to some estimates.
