9th gen civic 300x199 Ninth Generation Civic to be built by Dongfeng HondaThe Honda Civic has been one of China’s best selling compact sedans over the past two years and it seems that Honda are eager for the success to continue into 2011 and 2012 with the production of the 9th generation Honda Civic in China.

For the US market the Civic will be getting a 2.4L and a 1.8L, but the Chinese market is expected to receive the 1.8L only as with the last generation of Civic. The current 8th generation of Civic is expected to be moved over to Honda’s new Everus brand where it will sell for around 100,000rmb where as the 9th is expected to be priced from 120,000rmb and rising.

The 9th generation has already been spotted out testing in China and a years end launch is expected, although it is likely that we will see it, and the 8th generation in Everus badging at the Shanghai Auto Show.

    I’ve always wondered why the Civic doesn’t seem to sell that well over here. The price doesn’t seem that out of line, so what’s the issue – is it the styling?
