C-NCAP to get tougher standards

In recent months several Chinese cars have reached the 5-Star safety requirement from the Chinese crash testing authority, CNCAP. Now C-NCAP are planning to raise requirements to get a 5-Star safety standard in their 2012 standards that they are assembling this week.

The current crash test speed used in CNCAP is set at 56kph, but that is going to be raised to 64kph under 2012 guidelines. Also due to China’s congested traffic CNCAP will introduce rear end crash testing, pedestrian crash testing and will also add in female crash test dummies to gauge the level of safety in a car crash to a females head and breast area.

C-NCAP will also be testing for passive and active safety measures and will give extra points for ESP and ABS systems

In the short term it is expected that the number of Chinese built 5-Star cars will fall, but as Chinese manufacturers gain speed they will once again catch up and begin to receive 5-Star rewards.

Until now only the American crash testing authority tested for rear end safety, but with China adding the test in and also the effects on female passengers in a crash, it appears that C-NCAP is going to be among the strictest testing bodies in the world in the next few months.

the car is the Brilliance BS4 and must be considered a good Chinese car if they want to export it to Europe under a luxury brand. by the way it received only one star for the 40 mph offset frontal crash test. thats a 100% chance of death.

Wolf – you need to more research into the motives of ADAC and who are sponsoring them.

Even that ADAC spokesman seams to like the enhancements.

The ADAC likes to crash cheap cars and make big press of bad results.

oh, the ADAC is one of the better ones here. You don’t wat to see a “test” done by the two big car magazins. If they test a German and another car, the German car always wins – even if it’s the Ford Ka, which is called “the last car with massive rust problems” by the TÜV and uses 30% more fuel then the others in the test ;)

er al wel eens aan een duitse financiering gedacht, door de, op dit moment, goedkopere rente is het beter om uw financiering in duitsland te vestigen.
