SAIC announces Maxus brand – LDV is back from the dead
Judging by recent events, SAIC are eager to recreate British Leyland with the creation of Reowe and then buying MG and also LDV from the UK. LDV has been renamed Maxxs and will carry the Chinese name Da Tong (大通). Da Tong’s main purpose is to create a series of products that are able to rival IVECO’s range in China – of course IVCEO is also produced by SAIC since they took over the Nanjing-IVECO joint venture.
Maxus vehicles wont only be for Chinese consumption, Chinese media reports are indicating that SAIC plans to send the vans into the international market over the next few months.
The purchase of LDV by SAIC was carried out by Dr. after LDV went bankrupt towards the end of 2009, LDV was then ‘shifted and lifted’ to China where SAIC took control of the company. Dr. Li Qu was also fingered in the report into the collapse of MG-Rover after the company failed to find a partner in SAIC and Nanjing Auto Corp.
LDV’s iconic skip logo seems to have been abandoned in favor of the new three triangles, which some have already compared to the naked female figure.
Edit: one two many X’s, thanks for the tip Windy.

I like the Datong logo of 1984′s vertion.
“…which some have already compared to the naked female figure”.
SICKENING.
What a great design for a new car brand logo. The only sad story is,that it is used for a van/truck company. That logo
would please a luxory car brand. It holds all features and along side whith good products, it could be a true success
story for a great Chinese world car brand of new cars.
