Brilliance preparing mini ‘BMW 5-series’

brilliance bmw sedan 300x160 Brilliance preparing mini BMW 5 seriesBriliance’ replacement for the aging BS4 was codenamed the A4 sedan, we’ve shown several pictures of it out testing several times before, but each picture shows a car draped in camouflage that makes it difficult to see what the car is all about, but now we can show you a final picture of the car (left)

Brilliance do produce the 3-Series and 5-Series in China with their partner BMW, so it seems that some of the design language has run off onto the new A4 sedan. The front grill and lights are unmistakeably from the BMW 5-Series whilst the rest of the car seems to be a mash of design themes, the rest of the car seems to scream sporty but with the usual undersized wheels that Chinese cars are famous for (at least it gives better gas mileage). This car will no likely be a major part of BrillianceShanghai Auto Show display later this year, no news on the cars engines or other specifics as of yet, but it is likely to be a big seller for Brilliance further down the line.

As I have previously posted, Brilliance has been contacting potential dealers in the US for a number of years now. They operate here through Autokam US. They even offer drives in current Brilliance models and show slides of future product that could be available. This model (A4) has been shown, but I think the grill was a little different. Other future models also shared this styling theme. This new series of models is likely to be the vehicles that they use to enter the US market, which has long been expected.

The hood construction (behind the grille, but above futher back) is indeed typical for all current BMW. Maybe Adrian van Hooydonk had his fingers on the design ;)

Maybe the car also shares some technical parts with BMW – something, that could help both: Brilliance to have better quality and BMW to drop cost.
