Beijing Auto to announce small car brand later this month
Beijing Auto are pulling back from their position as a stale producer of 45 year old jeeps and are planning to reintroduce the brand with a boom. Saab based vehicles are expected to illuminate the brand at the end of the year when the cars will finally roll down the production line, but long before that Beijing Auto plans to launch a mini car brand that will be used largely in rural areas.
Beijing Auto have set up a gigantic new automotive building complex in Hunan’s Zhuzhou city which will become the hub of all new automotive production, however Beijing Auto are planning for a new factory in Beijing.
The mini vans pictured to the left are the first vans that Beijing Auto will be making, the vans are without logo or branding so it seems that they are going to be pushed off in a separate brand from the Beijing 京 that we have seen so often.
Editorial note: Swapped province from Hubei to Hunan, thanks Mr. Fleetham!

In recent days, the management of Saab has admitted to having cash flow problems, and are actively seeking investment partners. BAIC made an offer for Opel during GM’s bankruptcy proceedings, and they recently purchased a former GM transmission factory in Sweden. Saab could offer them technology similar to Opel at a much lower price. Wonder if there’s any serious interest?
