BYD S6 to launch at Shanghai Auto Show
The BYD S6 SUV was first on show at the Beijing Auto Show in April 2010, but now it is going to see its official launch at the Shanghai Auto Show next month. The S6 will be BYD’s first SUV and is part of the company’s plan to push the brand into new segments, their first MPV launched in late 2010 and is also part of the plan.
A dual mode hybrid S6 was on show at the North American Motor Show (aka Detroit Motor Show) earlier this year and the same car made it over to Geneva, the S6 DM has not yet been shown in China but it might be at the Shanghai Auto Show.
Pricing is expected to be from 100,000rmb to 150,000rmb depending on specification, one engine offering will be the 2.0L self developed engine from BYD, and the other will be an off the shelf Mitsubishi engine paired to either a manual or automatic gearbox.
