Besturn B90 to launch this year to be Mazda6 based

Like other models in the Besturn range, the forthcoming Besturn B90 sedan is going to be Mazda based. The B50 and B70 sedans are both based on the last generation Mazda6 platform which FAW have received from their partners at Mazda, the B50 platform was shortened down to size and given the gearbox from the VW Polo to cut costs, whilst the B70 was made on the full Mazda6 platform and included Mazda running gear. The B90 will be in a similar position to the B70, although it will be sitting on top of the latest Mazda6 platform and will carry the newer 2.0L engine. Pricing for the B90 has not yet been announced, although it is expected to be in the 140,000rmb to 180,000rmb range, making it slightly cheaper than the current Mazda6.

Expect to see this on show at the Shanghai Auto Show in April this year.

I must say this for Besturn they certainly are creating a family look for the brand, so much so that I can’t tell the models apart! Contrast that to Roewe whose models seem to look as if they are by different manufacturers.

“making it slightly cheaper than the current Mazda6.” How much is the current Mazda 6 then? I would have thought the base model would be around 180,000.
