Chevrolet Malibu teaser revealed, to be known as Mai Rui Bao in China
The Chevrolet Malibu is shaping up to be an interesting car when it is revealed later this month ahead of the Shanghai Auto Show, previous generation Malibu’s have been largely targeted at fleet buyers in the US where they slipped into mediocrity behind even Hyundai’s or Kia sedans, the next generation Malibu looks set to shake that bland-mobile status off.
The Chevrolet brand in China is slowly moving up market, the addition of the face lift Captiva and also Cruze hatchback will give Chevrolet a major boost in China. The brand was first introduced as an economy brand that took over Buick’s products when they reached the end of the line, but now Chevrolet are getting a major shot in the arm with the introduction of an exciting new range that will be targeted at the youth and young family market.
Every car entering the Chinese market gets its own Chinese name, some cars do without one such as the Ford S-Max (although this was later changed to Mai Ke Si) and the VW Polo, recently the Camero’s recent Chinese christening where it received the name Kai Mei Luo received headlines around the automotive blog-o-sphere. The Malibu’s Chinese name is set to Mai Rui Bo and will likely be made in China at a later date.
