Toyota sales increase in March 2011
The Worlds biggest car company is still not China’s biggest car company, but Toyota are doing better in China albeit slower than expected. Toyota has two joint venture companies in China, one with First Automobile Works in Northern China and a second in Guangzhou with Guangzhou Autos, between the two of them they produce a wide range of Toyota products, but they do lack a small car line up which has hurt Toyota considerably from 2008 onwards when the government introduced low taxes for sub 1.6L cars.
Toyota’s sales reached 84,000 vehicles in March 2011 and showed a leap of 37.4% from just a year earlier, Toyota has set a sales goal of 900,000 vehicles in 2011 and expects the Chinese market to account for 15% of total global sales by 2015, in 2009 Toyota sold 846,000 vehicles in China.
