Great Wall’s C70 mid size sedan spotted

GWM C70 sedan 300x199 Great Walls C70 mid size sedan spotted

Ahead of every major auto show car makers like to reveal their products ahead of time with spy pictures taken with phone cameras, Great Wall are no exception to this rule.

The C70 looks to be a variation of the Great Wall Sports Sedan that we saw in 2009 but we didn’t hear anything from Great Wall on this model until recently. The C70 will be entering a tough market that is already being dominated by other mid size Chinese sedans such as the BYD F6, Emgrand EC8 and also Chery’s long line up of cars.

So how it will sell? The C70′s unique selling point is likely to be its 2.0 Turbo assisted engine, which is expected to be produced towards the end of the year.

Hardly! This segment is dominated by cars like the Passat, Accord, Regal, and Camry. The Chinese companies have barely registered a splash in this segment.

I think Great Wall, is one of the few company in China that can design.

Here in OZ, x240 looks great, but Chery on the other hand with their J series, looks like recycled kei cars.

I was at the GWM headquarters in Baoding last week, what a place! Its incredible! No wonder Land Rover are eager to work with them. One of the best car factories I have ever been to!

I did wonder about GWM’s location in central China, if they could attract the best talent to work in Baoding rather than the big Eastern cities, but they seem to be doing a fantastic job at recruiting staff, expanding their factories, their line up and their quality levels.

What surprises me is that Greatwall never absorbed the little players in Baoding, like Dadi, Xinkai and Tianma. Those little guys, living in the shadow of Changcheng, never had a chance. Perhaps their facilities had little to offer and will just fade away in time.
