Chevrolet Malibu confirmed for Chinese production
In the US of A the Chevrolet Malibu is a lowly work horse that usually finds its home at the rental counter, but you can bet that in China it will be a decent up market vehicle pushed to family users that don’t want any of the Japanese 3: the Camry, the Accord and the Teana or the Wolfsburg 1: the Passat.
The Malibu has been given a Chinese name for its forthcoming world launch, the new Chinese name of Mai Rui Bo was announced last week along with a teaser pic of what the new rental car might look like.
The Malibu, along with the Cruze, will be Chevrolet’s new global vehicle that will sell on six different continents at the same time. With the car being built on top of the current Buick Lacrosse platform, its likely that the Malibu will carry the same 2.0T and 2.4SIDI engines as its more mature brother, with the introduction of the new Malibu its highly likely that the Chevrolet Epica will be getting the boot at long last.
We will find out more info at the forthcoming Shanghai Auto Show.
