The Two Millionth Edition Jetta
What can we say? China loves the second generation Jetta just as much as they love pandas, rice and chopsticks, so its no shock to hear that VW have brought out a two millionth edition Jetta to thank consumers for all their love over the years. The Jetta is practically China’s People’s Car. The car was first produced in 1991 in partnership with First Automobile Works and VW, it became a popular car with fleet buyers, aka government bodies and even the military bought them as their basic staff car, taxi fleets lapped them up in their hundreds of thousands. The best thing about the Jetta is that it is one of those 80′s German cars that was just over built, and for daily abuse such as taxi cabs its the perfect motor, throw in an unbelievably huge spare parts network from the official and the less than official networks and you have a perfect motor. Next time you get in a Jetta taxi, have a look over the drivers shoulder and see how many KM’s his Jetta is rocking, most of those bad boys are doing around 500km per day at least. Now onto the real business: The Jetta Two Millionth edition doesn’t look too special from the outside, aside from its special badge denoting it as a special edition model and its special edition 15″ sports alloys. On the inside the 2 millionth Jetta is sporting the goods that you were waiting for.
Engines will of course be the same 1.6L that we are all too familiar with and pricing will be at 88,800rmb – an auspicious number.
