Great Wall’s IF concept car for Shanghai Auto Show

Great Wall Motors (GWM) are a great company, they have wide line up of cars from big SUV’s to little sedans and they are certainly on CCT’s list of Chinese car companies that are going to make it internationally. GWM’s big concept for the forth coming Shanghai Auto Show is the below Great Wall IF Concept.

As soon as you see it, you see a mash up of the BMW X6 and Audi Q7, especially the X6 in the rear. The If concept is a beast of a vehicle with it measuring in at (LxWxH) 5030x1931x1840mm, and having a wheel base of 3075mm.

From what we have learned so far, the Hover IF Concept will be carrying an intelligent AWD system, meaning that the clunky differential and low ratio gears from GWM’s other SUV models have been deleted for the IF, six airbags, xenon lights, three automatic air conditioned zones, 220v power supply and a keyless start system are all being installed. One key point that seems to be missing is engine power. GWM’s love of 2.4L Mitsubishi engines is going to do the IF’s design no justice if one of those asthmatic blocks finds its way under the hood.

Not necessarily, if they use the 4G69 unit rather than the 4G64 they are much improved. The newer Havals (they are no longer called Hover) have I believe adopted the newer engine. It no longer dates back to the 80s.

Oh no, don’t even try to mimic x6, its ugly as sin.

Bah :( The small image looked first like a nice looking hatchback. But no, yet another of this X6 ugliness. Why not use the Acura ZDX as a inspiration – that one has a much nicer sideline.
