Maxus V80 reborn in Shanghai

The LDV skip logo is not flying above the LDV models anymore, but the smart new three triangle designed logo seems to be good enough for the V80.

According to Maxus promotional literature, the Maxus brand is one “Europe’s most influential and recongizable commercial vehicle brands.” which is very odd, as the Maxus brand has not yet been introduced to Europe, especially as it was launched several weeks ago in Shanghai. The Maxus van from van maker LDV, has however, been on sale in the UK for a number of years and has quite a few accolades under its belt including Top Product of the Year 2005 and Van of the Year in 2005, 2006, 2007, and 2008.

The V80 is available in four basic models that break down into other models, the basics are: V80 Deluxue – a high end MPV with 7 seats, Maxus V80 Standard – a 9 to 13 seater MPV, Maxus V80 Logistics – a 5 to 6 seater van with a large cargo area (it only has 5 to 6 seats to gain MPV status rather than cargo van, if it was a cargo van it would be banned from most city centers during rush hour traffic, not good for couriers and delivery men!) and the Maxus V80 Special Purpose Vehicles – these are police cars, school vans and also ambulances. All models seem to be carrying the same 2.5 Turbo Diesel engine.

    Very Nice.

Certainly the LDV Maxus or “Maxus” as it became as the LDV name vanished from late UK models was a very nice van.

Popular with local tradesman and the Royal Mail. Even today there are high numbers still around.

Lets hope they bring it back to the UK

When this vehicle came to the UK/European market in 2004/05 it wasn’t up to the stiff competition at the time. Sales & profit results confirm this, both were disappointing (leading to LDV going into administration not once but twice 2005 & 2008)!
Not such a nice product !!!!!!

Come on SAIC bring the maxus home. Get the maxus van and bus range back on sale in the UK. When it comes for LDV Maxus van owner needing a replacement then the will be able to buy it. Come on bring it home and get it on sale now in 2012. Before your customers choose the rival vans and minibuses because they can’t by the new MAXUS V80 range. Offer the range through your MG Dealer ships and you would have a good chance at getting the LDV former dealer network to sell the Maxus Van Range.
