The New Generation of VW Magotan

VW’s “One Country, Two Passats” policy seems to be paying off in the Chinese market, the New Midsize Sedan (NMS) has just been launched in Shanghai by Shanghai Volskwagen, but VW’s other partner in North East China, First Automobile Works are planning to launch their own European B7 Passat in stretched wheelbase form to fight with the Shanghai NMS and also any other mid size sedan. The B6 was called the Magotan when introduced into China two years ago, and now that name is going to be changed to Next Generation Magotan (In Chinese, at least), the English name is likely to stay as Magotan for now.

Engines for the new Magotan will be the same as the old Magotan – 1.4TSI, 1.8TSI and a 2.0TSI.
