Next generation BMW 1 series spotted in China

BMW are aiming to boost their line up in the next three years with an added range of locally made BMW models, their current locally made range consists of just the 3 and 5 series sedans, the BMW 1-series and X1 SUV are expected to be introduced into China as locally made vehicles in the next few months.

Interestingly, the Chinese built 1-Series will go into production at the same time as the German made one which shows that BMW are putting further emphasis on building their market share in China.

The next generation of 1-series will be using small displacement engines that were developed in partnership with PSA, the four cylinder models will be a mixture of 1.4 to 2.0L and will offer turbo charged versions as well, a six cylinder model will also be available for the 135i and M-series.
