Audi A6 spied out testing, has Chinese media in a frenzy
There are two things that can excite the Chinese automotive media: the Audi A4L and the Audi A6L. The Audi brand is traditionally the weakest of the German three, but owing to Audi’s early entry into the Chinese market Audi were able to gain a massive market share way ahead of their German rivals, and they have come to understand the Chinese market much better than Mercedes or BMW.
Audi are expected to put the A6L into production later this year alongside the current A4L and Audi Q5 in the Changchun factory which is run in partnership with FAW. It has been reported that Audi maybe planning to offer two versions of the A6 in China, one a standard wheel base A6 that will be imported and then the A6L which will be made locally.

This looks like a “controlled leak” to drum up publicity…
Anyways, it doesn’t make any sense for them to sell an imported A6 alongside a domestically-produced A6L. Given that the imported A6 would be smaller (shorter) and more expensive, who would buy it? The only thing I can think of is that the imported one would have the high-performance engine, in which case it is really an S6/RS6.
Perhaps the more likely explanation is that there was a miscommunication and what was really meant is that they are going to launch the (imported) A7 here soon?
Bada bing! Most of the spy shots from China are taken by PR people on their mobile phones and given to the press.
Shorter and more expensive..sounds like my last Chinese girlfriend.
LOL!
Oh, and the A6 rear in the shot looks HORRIBLE.
Yeah, that “ledge” doesn’t do it for me.
Not only that, but the trunk is not properly aligned with the rest of the body (look at the tail lights). This is not the level of finish one would expect from a premium brand.
