Peugeot RCZ to launch in September

Pug RCZ 300x130 Peugeot RCZ to launch in SeptemberThe Peugeot RCZ is set to hit the Chinese market in September this year according to media reports which also indicate the RCZ will be priced at 400,000rmb – 43,000 Euros.

If the RCZ does launch in China at that price consumers may look elsewhere to get their sports car fix, the RCZ has a 1.6T engine under the hood that pushes out 115kw of power, but down at the Hyundai garage you can get yourself a 2.0T Coupe pushing out 210bhp for just 220,000rmb and if you want to spend more than the V6 version is available for 320,000rmb and has 303bhp to send to the back wheels rather than the front wheels as with the RCZ.

So if Peugeot plan to get any sales for the RCZ, perhaps a radical rethink of the pricing structure is to be held before it hits the market.

A bad name. Chinese can not distinguish it from Honda CRZ

Great looking car, and from what I’ve read quite fun to drive too (some say it’s more fun than the TT).

As for the pricing, unfortunately that’s how things are here with cars like this, but FWIW it is consistent with Malaysia (it’s actually a bit lower).

Sure, the Hyundai coupe offers way better value for the money, but come on, it’s a Hyundai… That said, hopefully Peugeot will smarten up and bring us the 200hp version of the 1.6T.

At this price for this performance, while it looks alright, I’d most definitely vote in favor of the equally priced RX8 – which I also think is overpriced for what it offers in China.

Even though it *looks* like a sports car, it hits 100kmph in like.. 9 SECONDS. That’s worse than a BUICK these days mate. More fun than a TT if you can’t afford a TT perhaps :D I don’t think that you can say “but come on, it’s a Hyundai” when comparing a Peugeot, I would most definitely say Peugeot is far from known for high quality machines and the Rohens coupe (genesis) has surprisingly good reviews.

Rick, thank you for waking me up from my strange dream. You are right, I did vow to never own another Citroen/Peugeot ever again – I guess I was seduced by the good looks of the RCZ.

I will continue to wait for the next gen MX-5 to arrive here, when I will hopefully be able to pick up the current one at a good discount.

Ok. People gave me a hard time for liking the MINI. This car and the TT are by far more a womans car than the MINI. It probably has the same engine as a MINI but I am sure the MINI S out performs it.
