FAW are preparing to give the Hong Qi brand a major makeover for 2012, China’s oldest car brand is probably one of China’s most respected brands but FAW have let fall into a state of disrepair.

FAW are planning four new high end models for the Hong Qi brand, one of which is the high end limosuine that is used by China’s leaders and state guests, the other being the above C131. The C131 is likely to use a 2.5 V6 and also a 3.0L V6 engine that was self developed by FAW.

Chinese media reports are indicating that the C131 will roll down production lines in late 2011 and should be on the market in first quarter 2012.
