Foton to possibly make a new small car in new factory plant


Foton are one of China’s (if not the worlds) biggest light truck manufacturers, the Beijing based company which is part of the BAIC Group, has spread its wings away from Beijing and moved across China and internationally over the past few years, currently the company only make a single small MPV/utility vehicle but according to reports Foton maybe preparing a new small car.

Foton are in the midst of assembling a new factory in Miyun County south of Beijing, the factory is being billed as a multipurpose facility that will be able to produce a multitude of different vehicles including Foton’s light truck range and also Foton’s CUV, MPV and SUV range, and a new mysterious compact economy car that Foton are working on. The new factory has an initial production capacity of 75,000 vehicles in the first phase but additional capacity of up to 150,000 units will be added in the second stage to give the plant a total capacity of 220,000 vehicles per year.

    Can someone who reads Chinese be so kind as to tell me who the battery manufacturer is for the Foton in the following link:

    Google translate shows it as Shenzhen BAK Battery – but Yahoo translate has it as another company.
