Geely’s MPV readying for production

Geely maybe a major Chinese automotive company, but they do lack MPV and SUV models, for 2011 Geely are aiming to rectify this issue by launching the EX7 SUV and also the below EV8 model under the Emgrand brand. Emgrand was set upto carry Geely’s mid to high range models. The EV8 was originally codenamed the HL-1 within the Geely empire and is set to carry both diesel and petrol engines which could indicate a plan to sell the EV8 in markets other than China. A six speed automatic gearbox has been recruited from the DSI Transmission line up. On the size front the EV8 is slightly bigger than the current Toyota Previa according to Chinese media reports. The EV8 will launch in the second half of 2011.
