Sales of China’s listed automakers slowed down
Most of China’s stock market listed automakers saw June output and sales declining from a year earlier. Some automakers kept growing, but the growth fell sharply from the same period of last year.
Affected by the expiration of incentive policies, monetary tightening, and industry adjustment, China’s auto output and sales started to slow down after two-year rapid growth. According to the statistics released by China Association of Automobile Manufacturers, the auto output and sales rose only 2.48% and 3.35% from a year earlier respectively in the first half of this year, nearly 30 percentage points lower than the growth in 2010.
The output and sales of Chang’an Auto decreased 5.14% and 5.05% from a year earlier respectively. Foton’s output and sales declined 7.7% and 3.5% from a year earlier respectively.
SAIC Motor’s output and sales in the first half of this year only increased 11.38% and 12.99% from a year earlier respectively. JAC’s output and sales also rose 7.24% and 10.07% from a year earlier respectively. Dongfeng and Jiangling’s output and sales both grew more than 12% in the first half of this year.
It seems the sales decline was mostly lower than the output decrease, which indicates the automakers were adjusting themselves to the market situation.
