Yeti spotted in China, sparking rumors of imminent importation
When VW introduce a new model of car into China they often like to go via the import method first to see if there is a strong demand for the vehicle ahead of producing the car locally, they did it with various different models notably the Golf GTI and the Tiguan SUV which went onto become strong sellers in the Chinese market. Skoda itself has already proven to be a popular brand in China with sales increasing year on year despite the brand being a relative new comer to the market.
The Yeti is due to be produced in China in mid to late 2012 according to previous media reports, but it appears that the Yeti maybe on its way to China via the imported channels sooner than we expected. The Skoda was snapped by a Weibo user (think Chinese Twitter) and uploaded to the internet in rapid time. The Yeti will be powered by 1.4TSI or 1.8TSI engines when it launches in the Chinese market.
