Tiguan to get a facelift and 1.4TSI engine in the China
The Tiguan has been a major hit for Shanghai VW since it was first introduced last year, the car first came to the Chinese market as an imported model but the car was later put into production locally where it became very popular very quickly with long lead times and some dealers increasing the pricing. The imported Tiguan came with a more offroad friendly front bumper called the Track and Field model, which gave the mini SUV a greater approach angle for those that wished to take their Tiguans off the black stuff, however the locally built model lost that approach angle which seemed to upset quite a few potential buyers. Judging by the pictures below it seems that VW are going to introduce the offroad friendly bumper onto the Chinese model.
The Tiguan will also get a 1.4TSI engine that is currently used in the Golf, Lavida and New Bora models, which will sit alongside the 1.8TSI and 2.0TSI engines that are currently available. The addition of the 1.4TSI will lower the price by a considerable amount and should see the Tiguan start at the 200,000rmb and rising price segment.
