China’s July auto sales decreased 11.19% from a month earlier to 1,275,300 units


China Association of Automobile Manufacturers released the country’s auto output and sales data for July on August 10th. China’s auto output and sales saw a month-on-month decline and a year-on-year growth in the traditional low season. The commercial vehicle sector saw bigger month-on-month decline than the passenger vehicle sector.

The auto output and sales in July reached 1,306,100 units and 1,275,300 units respectively, down 6.96% and 11.19% from a month earlier respectively, up 1.26% and 2.18% from a year earlier. The output and sales of passenger vehicles totaled 1,050,400 units and 1,011,800 units respectively, down 6.38% and 8.78% from a month earlier, up 5.82% and 6.74% from a year earlier. The output and sales of commercial vehicles stood at 255,700 units and 263,500 units, down 9.26% and 19.36% from a month earlier, down 13.98% and 12.23% from a year earlier.

The accumulative auto output and sales in Jan-July period hit 10,462,400 units and 10,601,800 units respectively, up 2.33% and 3.22% from a year earlier. The accumulative output and sales of cars totaled 5,678,500 units and 5,680,700 units respectively, up 7.63% and 8.35% from a year earlier respectively.

The auto exports in July reached 73,300 units, down 12.73% from a month earlier and up 57.70% from a year earlier. The total exports in Jan-July period increased 57.30% from a year earlier to 454,400 units.

The top five exporters in Jan-July period were Chery, Chang’an, JAC, Great Wall, and Dongfeng, in sequential order. The top ten automakers in terms of sales in July were SAIC, Dongfeng, FAW, Chang’an, BAIC, GAC, Chery, Brilliance, JAC, and Great Wall, in sequential order. The top ten automakers in Jan-July period were SAIC, Dongfeng, FAW, Chang’an, BAIC, GAC, Chery, JAC, Brilliance, and Great Wall, in sequential order.
