Brilliance launch H530 with 1.6L and 1.5T – priced to win
Brilliance are one of the better Chinese car companies in terms of their design styling and range, however they have failed to gain mass volume sales in the red hot Chinese market, their line up is quite compact with three sedans (now 4) 1 hatchback, a coupe and a wagon, they also have an SUV in the works which should be shown at the Beijing Auto Show in 2012.
The H530 launched late last night at a well attended event, although most of the crowd was obviously made up of media who were quick to proclaim the H530 a new mini BMW. The H530 will be carrying Brilliance’ new self developed 1.5 Turbo powered engine which is able to push out 100Kw of power and 150Nm of torque which is more than enough to carry the compact sedan around town, a 1.6L naturally aspirated model is also being made available for the 530. On the inside Brilliance have clearly learned from their past mistakes with the 530, the interior has been vastly improved in terms of plastics used which have been made softer to the touch.
Pricing is really quite good for a car of its size, the H530 starts at 79,800rmb for the base 1.6L manual and rises to 125,800rmb for the top of the line 1.5T model – let’s not forget that this model measures in at (LxWxH) 4708mm x 1788 x 1475 and has a wheelbase of 2700mm which puts it roughly in the same area as a Honda Civic.
