Great Wall’s IF concept in rendered form ahead of production

Great Wall Motors (GWM) are a company that are heading places, their small car line up is on the verge of overtaking their traditional SUV line up as the main sales force for the company and their export sales are on fire, is there anything that could potentially slow the company down? We don’t seem to see anything on the horizon that could do so. Their small car line up came about in somewhat of a rush when the global price of oil broke through the 80USD a barrel barrier and went on to break through the 100USD a barrel barrier, GWM realized it needed small cars quickly to offset the potential loss of big car sales, the small cars came and they provided instant relief. Now GWM are taking their small cars more upmarket with them being re-branded as the Tengyi Series, their SUV series will remain as the Hover series.

The latest car, the IF, seems to sit between both car and SUV so its unclear if it will be a Tengyi, or a Hover, all we know is that it was on show as the IF concept at last years auto show. The sleek model clearly has some BMW 5-Series GT overtones to it, engine power has not yet been mentioned by the company, but we could expect something in diesel and gasoline form, GWM have been working on V engines over the past 12 months and they are well known for their diesel engine exploits. An eventual launch date has not been mentioned as of yet, but we can guess that it will be on sale in the next 12 months.
