The Murano may have only just hit the market in Chinanissan leaf 300x199 Nissans Leaf to be imported into China after Oct 1st Holiday but Nissan are readying a car at the other end of the spectrum, the Leaf will hit the market shortly after the October 1st week long holiday according to media reports. Initial reports do not indicate the price range that the Leaf will fall into but it could be around the 200,000rmb and rising marker according to conservative estimates.

As well as working to import the Leaf, Nissan are also working with their joint venture partners Dongfeng to develop an electric car under the China only name plate, Venucia. The Venuicia brand was introduced at the Guangzhou Auto Show in late 2010 and will make full use of Nissan’s more mature (see out of production) platforms in the Chinese market, and possibly other developing lands. Nissan are working with Dongfeng to also make an electric car using the Leaf’s technology for the Chinese market, as the Chinese market has some fairly special conditions, such as relatively low purchasing power the ‘Chinese Leaf’ could well be priced at half of what the imported Leaf is selling for when it hits the market. Information on the first Venuicia EV has not yet been revealed, although we did see a concept version of the first Venuicia vehicle at the Shanghai Auto Show earlier this year.

200,000? I would be suprised to see any change from 300,000 for an imported Nissan Leaf.
