Peugeot have launched their flagship RCZ sports car in the Chinese market earlier this month, the small two seater sports car is priced in the middle of the range at 328,800rmb to 356,800rmb, priced below it are the Mazda MX5 and Hyundai Coupe 2.0T whilst ahead of it are the R-Line series from VW and also the Audi TT.
The Chinese media are putting the RZC up against the TT in terms of styling, although the RCZ is ‘only’ packing a 1.6T it is still capable of sending 240Nm out of the wheels. A diesel option has not been launched in China, yet. The RCZ is not exactly a cheap car in the Chinese market but it does give Peugeot a model to grab headlines with and consumers into dealerships, even if they do not sell too many. The likelihood of the RCZ seeing local production is quite limited, Peugeot are likely to focus on models that sell in great volumes, all locally made sports cars seem suffer from high prices and low sales.
