Hawtai’s B21 ‘aka the Mini Bentley’ sedan spied

During the Beijing and Shanghai Auto Show’s Hawtai showed off their B21 compact sedan, but as always as soon as the curtain came down on the show the concept disappeared from sight for quite some time. We’re not entirely sure of the B21′s sizing at the moment, but its name indicates that it should be higher than the Hawtai B11 that has already launched  some time ago, at the Shanghai Auto Show Hawtai showed a 2.0L gasoline and a 2.0DI diesel engine, the gasoline variant is likely to be bought in as Hawtai are eager to develop themselves as a diesel engine leader.

When the B21 will launch is a mystery, as is Hawtai’s sales figures for the B11 – so far we have found sales figures for their SUV range which shows they are doing okay (but not great) but sedan figures are missing.

Do you have any links to updated Hawtai sales figures?

The last I heard they had a big disagreement with the national registrations that caused all sorts of issues.

Also do you know if the B11 has actively launched and any driver reviews?

These are great looking cars that could really compete internationally against the gres]at.

      Rob,

No links, but I have the sales figures for their SUV’s, I cant see the B11. B11 owners forums on the major sites seems to deathly quiet as well. What is happening here?

      • avatar R says:

        Exactly, what is happening?

This car should be selling 1,000s per month, even 10,000s so I don’t know if it is a problem with production/technical, finance, distribution or what but I would like to find out and see some movement.

There is demand for this car but what is happening with the supply?

Maybe you can check with your sources and find out more about this?

If they want to launch the B21 then that is fantastic but I wonder if they are launching it instead of the B11.

That would be fine as long as they can actually make the bloody things and supply them to the market. And they need to offer automatic if they want to compete in the premium markets.

There are companies around the world who are willing to literally buy hundreds and plan long term orders of thousands if the car can be delivered.

If you get any information please do update it here!

Oopps, I meant that they could compete against other mid-premium car brands in Asia, Latin America, Africa, Eastern Europe etc.

But they need to get their organization together as well as better developed production and technlog, maybe a merging with one of the bigger independent Chinese manufacturers or a Western brand like Saab (but with more realistic price tag for the company).

Anyway first thing’s first and they have to get their B11 (Manual & Auto) out and selling in the market and also overseas where they have quite a lot of interest and orders.

I can see Bentley lawyers jumping all over this.
