BAIC’s Saab based C70 seen out testing in final metal
Beijing Auto’s development of their Saab based vehicles has been a long drawn out affair, if we look back to 2005 when MG-Rover went bankrupt and its IPR subsequently sold on to SAIC, Roewe was born just a year later on the back of the Rover 75. Now if we look back to Saab’s IPR clear out to Beijing Auto in June 2009, you can see we’ve patiently waited more than 2 years to see what a Beijing branded Saab might look like, and it seems were are still no closer to being able to buy one.
- BAIC C70
The above pictures show what the C70 will look like when it finally arrives next year, the car is supposed to be hitting the production lines at ‘the end of the year’ according to BAIC releases and should be on show at the Guangzhou Auto Show. Judging by the pictures, it seems there is still a lot of Saab left in the C70, so perhaps true Saab fans will be buying Beijing Cars in the next decade as Saab eventually goes bankrupt this year or next.
