Chinese Govt may delay electric car standards


A joint survey made by the Automobile Research Institute and Gasgoo.com shows that only 23% of the industry insiders believe the industry standard for electric vehicles will be issued at the year end or early next year, and 46% of the industry insiders think differently. As many as 31% of them believe there are big uncertainty for the issuance of the standard.

60% of the respondents believe China’s industry standard should be the same as the foreign standard, so as to satisfy the interests of most participants. But as many as 40% of the respondents believe there are no uniform standard globally, and China’s industry standard for electric vehicles do not have to be the same as the foreign standard.

The survey also shows that 44% of the respondents believe the state-owned companies are the biggest beneficiary if the standard is established. Besides, 32% of the respondents believe foreign companies will be the biggest beneficiary. Only 24% of them believe private automakers may become the biggest beneficiary.
