Brilliance 1.5T SUV to see production in Mid Nov, possible show casing at GZ Auto Show
At the 2011 Shanghai Auto Show BMW were rather upset with Brilliance’s plans to show the V5 SUV ahead of BMW’s plans to show their Chinese made X1 SUV, so Brilliance called off the launch. The BMW X1 is expected to launch at the Guangzhou Auto Show later this month and there is a small chance that the similarly shaped V1 will follow it at the press days.
The Brilliance H530 which also carries the same 1.6L and 1.5T engines comes in at roughly 90 – 130,000rmb, so the V5 could be as high as 120,000rmb to 150,000rmb when it finally launches, either at this Guangzhou Auto Show or if under going yet another BMW enforced embargo it might be delayed till April 2012′ Beijing Auto Show.

BMW was probably just embarrassed that it looks better than their ugly station wagon they call an SUV.
Aren’t SUVs all just ugly stations wagons?
PJ O’Rourke got it right. He referred to them as Sport Futility Vehicles! They’re not sporty and they not useful.
Rant over.
The one I have is pretty useful. It doesn’t look like a station wagon either. I agree that most of the crossover SUV’s look like a wagon but not all. If you don’t need the extra space they aren’t useful at all. If you do need it they are useful. Mine is completely full anytime I go anywhere in it. That is partially why I got rid of the MINI.
The BMW X1 is ugly for a station wagon. The proportions go back to the Brady Bunch station wagon in the 70′s.
Wow. with a 1.5T and 1.6 clearly this vehicle can only ever be “driven” downhill. I’m surprised the thing even moves with such a small engine in such a large car.
Patrick, its a tiny SUV, 1.5T is more than enough but a 1.6L naturally aspirated maybe a little labored, which is probably why they will only offer a manual shift with the 1.6L
