Chinese made electric Honda Fit to be shown in Guangzhou
A recent foot in mouth announcement by an American Senator over GM’s proposed production of the Chevy Volt got right wing American press riled up over the possibility of giving technology to the ‘commies on the other side of the Pacific, in the meantime Honda came out and announced it was going to build an electric Honda Fit in China.
That Fit will be shown off at the Guangzhou Auto Show next week and it will form a major part of Honda’s green car strategy for China. The electric fit will be good for roughly 136bhp and have 205Nm on torque, battery power will be 6 kilo watts of energy which translates into a top speed of 90kph and a range of 160km – more than enough for any city commuter. The downside is that a full charge needs 6 hours on a regular outlet but can be sped up to 2 hours on a fast charger. When the Fit will be released, or how much it will cost is still in the air, although as a locally made vehicle it will have substantial subsidies making it fairly cheap to own.
