Chevrolet Captiva to launch in China as locally made vehicle and FWD only
The Captiva is a big car for the money, its on par with the best selling Honda CRV and already a strong selling SUV in its own right, however it is priced marginally higher than the locally built CRV as the Captiva is imported into Korea.
A locally made Captiva will likely fall in price considerably which would make it extremely competitive against the CRV, thus Shanghai-GM have been aiming to put the Captiva into production locally for the past few months. The Captiva will come with the same 2.4L engine that is used in the imported model but will have the option of 2WD or 4WD for the Chinese market, and with pricing rumored to start at around 220,000rmb the Captiva is more than certainly priced to win a large market share.
