The Lotus SUV spy shots that we posted several days ago were clearly misleading, the forthcoming SUV from Lotus is actually an MPV/SUV crossover in the same vein as the Dodge Journey or the Mercedes R-Class, just a lot cheaper. The crossover will be using a 3+2 seating set up to provide more space. On the engine front the original ASX crossover concept from Lotus was due to use a 3.0L V6, but production reality is much a different place, a recent agreement signed between Youngman and Harbin Dong’an Engine company which produces Mitsubishi engines indicates that Youngman will be installing 1.8L, 2.0L and also a special 1.5T engine.
Pricing is expected to be from 100,000rmb and rising when it launches in early 2012.
i believe u r confused with Youngman Lotus and Lotus Cars UK, the two r not related except the fact that the two are linked to Proton, which is Lotus Cars UK sister company.. Lotus Cars UK r not directly involved with Youngman Lotus, you can say that they r not on good terms with each other especially with Lotus Cars having to enter China as Nyo Lotus as Youngman registered their fake Lotus trademark earlier.. so, it is logical to think that there is NO WAY for Lotus Cars to let Youngman Lotus use their technology let alone their Lotus APX SUV platform even if it’s being abandoned now..
This Youngman Lotus is surely not the Lotus APX but as Malaysian media reported that Proton CEO Syed Zainal said, will be based on Proton Exora MPV platform (google Proton Lekiu concept) The two photos of the interior shown here are from the Lotus APX SUV, which is absolutely not the interior of this Youngman Lotus SUV..

In defense of Youngman, it’s not Youngman’s fault that Lotus UK dragged their feet getting into China. In their absence Youngman just did what came naturally.
