Black Tires are Boring, Qingdao Company Starts to make Colored Tires

double star tires 300x180 Black Tires are Boring, Qingdao Company Starts to make Colored TiresCar tires have been black since the car production began, of course North America and to some extent the rest of the world went through a white wall craze but that tapered off eventually, so why are tires black? Why can’t we have red tires, pink tires, or fruity loopy colored tires? These are the hard questions that have been asked at Qingdao based Double Star Tire Company’s board meetings over the past few years, it seems the company has reacted well to the suggestions put forth to it and plans to make a series of colored tires – blues, red, greens, pink and yellows, plus some khaki colored ones for the military sorts or militia sorts that need to camouflage their vehicles.

Double Star have already applied for patents for its Rainbow Tires and they should be on the market very soon according to reports.

Actually the first car tyres were white, completely white, because the technology of adding Carbon Black to tyres had not been developed. Once it was however, in London in 1910, it quickly became universally adopted because it radically improved the durability of the tyres.

So long as these coloured tyres retain the durability of modern tyres I don’t see an issue with them. Though I think they are rather garish myself. Though the camo ones I can actually see a market for for military vehicles – ok usually they will be caked in mud or dust, but sometimes they might be useful.

    Michelin invented color tyres.

I like the idea, even if I wouldn’t buy them. A big problem will be stocking the large variety at retail.

Of course the previous writer is correct tires were all white until for good reason they became black. If-a big if-these colored tires are durable they may find a small market but people will find they get very dirty and more worn looking and interest in them will decline and they will fade away! It is a poor idea long term!

BF Goodrich Scorcher tires were sold in US during the years 2000. They are very nice, with coloured rubber on the tread only.

Color sidewalls are stupid idea because it becomes always dirty

Many years ago, some cooks in China took the colorful fish onto the table, but few consumers liked that. Color tire is the same.

As long as the burnouts are the same colour then they will be a hit…… ;-)
