Mercedes B200 to be made in China

The redesigned B200 is a handsome car, the previous generation was a little conservative in its styling but the latest model has been given a sporty new design that will likely connect well with younger buyers that are eager to get into the Mercedes brand. Chinese media reports indicate that the car will hit the market in the first half of 2012 but will be put into production at the Beijing-Benz joint venture in the near future. The B200 will likely retail for around 230,000rmb when made in China but imported prices are still set to be around the 300,000 mark.

BMW and Audi are also rushing to put their small cars in to production in China, the Audi A3 is currently sold in China as an imported model but will likely see production in China in 2013 at the new Foshan factory on part of VAG Groups introduction of the MQB platform. BMW are also likely to show their domestically made BMW 1-Series in early 2012.
