Kia to set up new sub brand in 2012 for Chinese market

In a recent interview with Autohome.com.cn Dongfeng Kia’s General Manager Mr. Su Nan Yong revealed that Dongfeng and Kia are already working on the development of a sub brand for Kia in China. Mr. Su was quoted as saying “R&D on the first model from Kia’s self developed brand has already finished, we have now put forward the brands logo and name for registration, it should be completed within a matter of weeks.”

Where the new brand will be built is still a mystery, perhaps it will be in Kia’s new factory or one of its existing plants. The new brand will also be home to a new pure EV from Kia which will launch in mid to late 2012, the exact model has not yet been announced but it is expected to be the Kia Forte EV.
