Saab 9-3 BAIC C70 sedan seen ahead of production


BAIC’s C70, a Saab 9-3 based vehicle, has been spotted out testing ahead of its initial production run this month in Hubei province. BAIC bought teh rights to the 9-3 and 9-5 platforms in late 2010 for 195 million USD for use within its own line up. BAIC plan to build 20 new platforms for its own new Beijing branded vehicles under its own 12th five year plan, the new vehicles will range from small AO sized cars to full size sedans and SUV’s according to new reports.

The C70 will be one of the first Beijing branded sedans to see production, the C70 will carry a 2.0T engine. A C60 pure electric variant will also be produced at a later date.

    Do we know that this is an ICE model and not one of the C70 or C71 EVs being developed by BAIC New Energy?
