Ford Escape to be sold in China, along with 2.0T Edge

According to Chinese media reports from earlier this morning Ford are planning to bring the 2012 Ford Escape into the Chinese market as early as next year as an imported vehicle. Ford are eager to boost their China line up, but will be relying on imported products to boost their dealer offerings in the short term before increasing their locally produce range.

Ford already sell the Canadian made Ford Edge in the Chinese market as a 3.5L vehicle, Ford are expected to introduce the new 2.0T Ecoboost Edge into China in the next few weeks, a lower displacement is likely to bring lower pricing than the current 350,000rmb range for the V6 version.

I wonder if it will remain the Escape or Kuge since both vehicles have migrated to the same platform. Perhaps someday it will be produced in China since the new model uses the same platform as the new Focus.

The Ford KUGA is an excellent vehicle. Its blend of style, handling/ride and sheer functionality will go down well in China

Little wonder they want the new KUGA in the USA, it’s far nicer and more capable that the current Escape

I believe Kuga is in the product line up for China, I wouldnt be surprised if both were made locally eventually, ala Nissan that makes the Qashqai and X-Trail. The Qashqai being attractive to the lifestyle sorts and the X-Trail being sold to those actually live those lifestyles.

That’s very interesting. Because the new Kuga and Escape are the same vehicle now. Perhaps it’ll be the old Kuga and the new Kuga/Escape (called Escape in North America and perhaps China) for the Chinese market.
